| This is a brilliantly written book. Smith takes a very systematic approach to discussing the idea of God, and unraveling different understandings of it. He brings incredible clarity to the topic.
The focus in this book is more philosophical than the newer books on atheism. He deals with the ideas in a more rigorous way. Instead of focusing on many of the concrete beliefs associated with the various religions, he focuses on the nature of the concept of god itself. While more abstract, the clarity he brings to it is damning enough. He doesn't need to attack it. He simply exposes it.
If you're interested in atheism and religion, don't miss this classic.
