| Further to our announcement of new clubs two days ago, here are some more. Just scroll down & look leftward for: 1) SOLO Think Tank. Leonard Peikoff said of philosophies in general that their fundamental principles are immutable, but "new implications, applications, integrations can always be discovered." Objectivists have been a bit slow in discovering new implications, applications & integrations of *their* philosophy. The SOLO Think Tank is an invite-only group that will set out on just such a voyage of discovery. 2) SOLO University. "Professor" Rowlands is open for business! This is for rookies whose understanding of Objectivism is elementary, if that, but who are interested in being trained up all the way to an advanced understanding by Prof. Joe. Not for time-wasters, though - you'll be expected to show that you've actually grasped the subject matter & are not simply rote-reciting. That means *you* rather than Joe will be doing the bulk of the work! 3) SOLO Science. For those with a specialised interest in the perennial questions about the relationship between science & philosophy, the implications of scientific discoveries *for* philosophy, whether philosophy has "veto power" over scientific pronouncements, etc.. 4) SOLO Silicon Valley. A social club for those residing in this hub of modern capitalism, the contemporary symbol & reality of innovation & entrepreneurialism. The place hums with restaurants, museums, concerts, plays, exhibitions, etc., that SOLOists might enjoy all the more in each other's company. 5) SOLO Romance. Well, it had to happen, didn't it? One can't have an organisation devoted to "rational passion & passionate reason" that doesn't facilitate romance, can one? SOLO has already spawned two passionate romances (that we know about, not to mention that Ms Iannolo received a proposal of marriage within days of setting up SOLO Food - & we're sure it wasn't just the food!). It is our hope that SOLO Romance will spawn many, many more. For straights & gays, yellow & piebald. Happy hunting! Linz | ||
