Don Watkins in Baltimore September 17 Posted by Luke Setzer on 9/11, 10:11am | ||
I know Don Watkins has raised hackles in some Objectivist circles over his stance favoring open immigration. While this talk centers on another topic, this is your chance to quiz him face-to-face during the reception should you wish to make the journey. I am posting this as a favor for Julia Brent, a person whose name should ring a bell for long-time forum participants here. Watkins does have a 100 person requirement to come all the way to the East Coast, hence the motivation for this post.
Please do not shoot the messenger. I have read enough complaints from some Ayn Rand fans about “Obleftivists” conveniently employing Facebook Block to suggest that interested parties try a more direct approach in seeking meaningful answers from influential people. As usual, I encourage any challengers to practice “courtesy without appeasement,” and to keep the surrounding audience in mind when trying to communicate effectively.
I live in Florida and cannot justify the trip myself, but those in the American northeast might find it worthwhile.
EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
We are huge fans of Don Watkins, so we’ve arranged for him to speak on the topic of “Equal is UNFair,” on September 17th at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Reception after at the Sky Bar, a few floors up.

Equality is the buzzword of our time, but in their book “Equal is Unfair,” Don Watkins and Yaron Brook lay out the case for why this stolen concept is detrimental to our well-being.
Don will give a presentation of his book, then answer some audience questions, and conclude with a book signing. At the reception, we will also have copies of the book available.
We at the Maryland Objectivist Society Meetup at http://www.meetup.com/MDObjectivists/ are excited to hear Don speak and we look forward to seeing you there as well!
