Petty Tyrants Assault Private Property Rights
Posted by Luke Setzer on 3/01, 1:43pm
The bureaucrats in the city of Cocoa, Florida have decided, in their infinite wisdom, that a small percentage of "blighted" rental properties reflects a need to require all landlords to maintain occupational licenses and subject their units to annual code inspections.  I really have to wonder if any of the people backing this legislation have ever occupied themselves as landlords and fully understood the work, hassles and narrow profit margins of that business.  The local real estate investors group, Brevard Investors Group (BIG), has worked to fight this encroaching bureaucracy to no avail.
