 | While many people consider this to have been a "boring and stupid" movie, philosophically it is very likely one of the most important of the Star Trek movie series.
When the irresistible alien entity known as "V'ger" begins its destructive march towards planet Earth, the original Star Trek crew has to figure out a way to stop it, in a plot filled with some of the most interesting psychological and metaphysical analysis I've ever seen in a film, as the essence of yearning and inner turmoil are carefully explored in the conscious mind.
Objectivists may find this film highly intriguing, for the metaphysical insights generated by Mr. Spock in this film, and for the way that Ayn Rand's principle of "check your premises" ultimately becomes the determining factor in understanding and combatting the alien threat.
