| This exciting string quintet brings new life to chamber music (though to keep it confined to mere chambers would be a crime). I just recently purchased this album through the iTunes music store and have thoroughly enjoyed all of it. All of the music on this CD was composed by the ensemble's violist , Mark Landson. All of the members of this group have achieved much critical acclaim in their own rights. The music presented in contains a blend of Classical form mixed with the passion and fury of Late Romantic melody and harmony. Some of the highlights of the track include Filled with Youth and Optimism, Fury of the Living, Finding Joy and Wonder, and A Hero's Life (this track only comes with the full album purchase for all of you iTunes fans). My only complaint with this CD is that the second track, The Eternal Question, did not seem to fit with the heroism and beauty found within most of the CD. However, it's not much of an issue being that one can always use the skip button. This is the perfect CD to experience exaltation while sitting in front of a fireplace with a fine glass of Shiraz. Cheers! |
