| This album represents James Horner at his absolute finest. The film itself has become a cult fantasy classic, but even people who panned the film gave the score top ratings. This soundtrack marked Horner's first experience conducting the London Symphony Orchestra, and at the time of the album's production in 1983, he became the youngest composer ever to do so.
If you have never listened to this score but enjoy modern orchestra soundtracks, you do not know what you have been missing. I consider this a must have for the film soundtrack aficionado. These two reviewers capture the technical aspects of the Krull soundtrack more elegantly than I ever could:

Since Objectivists speak of art serving as spiritual fuel, I can say with complete sincerity that this soundtrack offers me the highest octane of any music I own. I possessed for many years the original LP containing only eight tracks of this magnificent score. This week, I received the complete Super Tracks two CD set containing 21 all-inclusive tracks of this broadly ranging masterpiece. Having listened to it twice already, I know with certainty that I will continue to repeat it for years to come.
