| The Rise and Demise of the British World Order and the Lessons for Global Power
This book offers an overview of the British Empire, without taking an exaggerated stand on whether it was beneficial or detrimental to Briton or the colonies she ruled. Though he points out some of the ill-effects, he also points out all the benefits of the empire, and that former British colonies are doing by far better today than colonies of other countries and countries that were never colonized. He draws some parallels to the United States, claiming that the US is today an empire in all but name, and would do better with its foreign policy if it admitted this fact. A nice aspect is all the great pictures throughout. Empire was a very good read.
