All Quiet On The Western FrontI just finished this book. It moved me in a life-altering way. No longer will I ever, ever sit back and take the news of an emergent war lightly.

All Quiet On The Western Front brought me face-to-face with not only the most brutal acts capable by men, but also the depths to which the mind, and, dare I say, soul yearns for shelter amongst the murderous chaos.

As we are now, we are men, civilized men. But when we go to war, although we may still have some semblance of reason in our faculties, we become sub-human, and our primeval instincts take over. If this state remains too long, one may never recover his humanity.

I encourage you to read this short, stirring book and challenge you to contain your tears. (I cried within the first 30 pages)

War is a means of last resort. If war must be the state of things, may the combatants be swift and decisive, using the best weapons in their arsenal.
Because to commit to and endure a war of any length is to forfeit our humanity for the interim. Be done with it quickly so that we may return to civilization... to being men.

Thank you.
