I am beginning a series of plein air paintings, direct and outdoors, of cityscapes in Manhattan. I just completed these two. I have worked on them for some days at the same time each day with an hour window. The precision of the perspective is all done by hand and is gestured in–using a straight edge, as a fine artist, is a crime, both because it is obvious to any artist worth their salt and its also in contempt of feeling the medium.
Its my first time painting in the public eye and I was delighted that I seemed only about 5% aware of the people milling about me.
