I have had a fun week posting here and in-between the posts I drew this up. I have been developing theory of triangulating lights and darks---I am a little shocked at how easily it facilitates realism.
This is a straightforward piece, a still life with 3 onions in a bowl. But I am calling it Three Cry Babies.
Earlier this month Jennifer Iannolo prepared some wonderful tidbits for my Open Studio guests...and I enjoyed spending time with her and talking about among other things, food. Low and behold I have just finished a still life painting with 3 fruits and now, these onions.
I have also enjoyed a reunion of sorts with George and Hong–the 3 of us together usually brings me to tears.
Another kind of tearing came about with Ellen, Jonathan, and Rich.
Hence I thought onions, and three of them, a fun thing to do. On a serious note though, I am exploring a whole new avenue of method...doing things that I have never done before, this triangulation thing. I have started the canvas for Lovers Jumping, and in the back of my mind while doing the still lifes is "how will I use this method for them?" We’ll see.
