War for Men's Minds

Electoral Rebuke
by Andre Zantonavitch

The great consensus on last week's election in the United States is that it was mostly a referendum on Iraq, Afghanistan, and Islamism -- on our absurdly-named "war on terror." Almost everyone concludes that the elections were a strong repudiation of the Republican and neo-conservative approach thereto. Americans seem to desperately want a new post-9/11 foreign policy and war policy -- and this is why Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld was forced out just one day later.

The current War on Islam is an intolerable boondoggle and fiasco in which America freely bleeds money and lives, while all around the world Muslims laugh and jihadis thrive. There seems to be almost no way out of this mess and virtually no hope for the future.

But the key to winning the war really isn't all that hard for a rational liberal mind to figure out: We just need to finally get serious in our war-making.

America needs to overthrow the current democratically-elected sharia-socialist dictatorships of Iraq and Afghanistan. Then we need to smash the world-leading jihadist tyrannies of Saudi Arabia and Iran. This energetic activity should be followed up by not doing anything else -- except waiting to bomb again. American needs to not occupy or rebuild these toppled and slightly-damaged countries, nor try to help their suffering masses by "teaching democracy" or "nation-building" (whatever that is), since we clearly don't have a clue how to do this.

This simple and cheap but forthright destructionism in the War on Islam against four loathsome Islamist governments by itself would change almost everything. And each time these totalitarian regimes and mortal threats to Western liberalism revive themselves, we should smash them to pieces again, killing as many of their tyrannical leaders and cronies as we can.

Unfortunately for all, neither the Bush Administration nor America's cutting-edge neo-con intellectuals have anything close to the brains or the stomach for this type of confident, success-oriented policy. The immediate failures of Iran and Afghanistan fill their minds. And the on-going failures of Saudi Arabia and Iran are something they desperately prefer not to think about. Today's American conservatives and neo-conservatives are uncertain, confused, and lack almost all confidence -- as well they should. They and their theories obviously aren't "the end of history," nor are they seriously pro-reason or pro-freedom, nor do they have any more than a cursory idea of what they're doing overseas.

Ultimately, everyone in power in America is philosophically wedded -- not to the transcendently liberal values of liberty, justice, and individual rights, but -- to the nominally-leftist, now universalist values of PC, multi-culti, diversity, and inclusion. These four bastardly ideals somehow manage to represent both meaningless drivel and socialist radicalism. Such is our ridiculous, insipid, depraved, "post-modern" world!

Even worse, all current US leaders continually babel on about the supposedly fundamental values of "democracy," self-rule, and national autonomy, when they ought to be championing individual freedom i.e. the untouchable, inviolable sanctity of personal liberty. How many times must the Muslims -- showing contemptible loyalty to their abysmal ideology -- elect a new dictatorship before we finally catch on about the limitations of democracy? How many times must we "respect" them as they set up yet another totalitarian legal structure?

To compound it all, American leaders rarely fail to stutter on in promoting non-existent or meaningless Muslim "moderates," just as they fecklessly condemn the representative "radicals" and popular "extremists." But this chowder-headed pro-"moderation" business didn't even work with the jihadists of Iran back in 1979! When will we learn? Without an intellectual alternative in the form of a rational philosophy and/or a libertarian political science, the answer seems to be never.

Finally, the US government still insists on morally sanctioning and vigorously promoting our nazi-like, commie-like, Muslim enemy by robotically repeating: "Islam is a great religion of peace which has been temporarily hijacked." These three stellar lies by all US officials, and pretty much all intellectual leaders, constitute something close to treason.

So there really is no hope. Not till the Muslims finally hit us with simultaneous suitcase nuclear devices in NY, DC, and LA. Then we'll rethink our evil asinine ideology above.

The post-apocalypse new ideology will still be hideously irrational and illiberal -- and virulently anti-American and pro-Islamic. But at least it may be less so enough that we can finally win out in our current, absurdist, self-hating War on Islam against these poor, backward, ignorant, ultra-weak enemies.
