Capitalism
by Jack Woodward

All my life, I have heard it said that capitalism is a system which rewards greed and exploitation. This is to misunderstand the nature of the system. Capitalism rewards men's hard work and uninhibited ability to produce. The fact that it is more open to greed and exploitation is indicative of it's optimistic disposition to the nature of man. Socialism presupposes that men are inherently flawed and cannot operate ethically out of their own volition.

Socialism is the system which truly rewards men for greed and exploitation. In theory, it rewards men for their selfless devotion to the greater good of society, but this is to forget that society is an abstract idea and, in reality, only a group of individuals like the men who work for "it." Where does the product of man's work go if it cannot go to a society which does not concretely exist? Society becomes "the state" and the state is the fortress of powerful, greedy men.

If you ever look to see a true monopoly, look to the small group of men at the head of communist governments who control all the wealth of their country. This is why terms like "the cult of personality" and "dictatorship of the proletariat" have gone indispensably with communist governments throughout history. Meanwhile, Socialism preaches that, if it is instated, the state will melt away. Historically, socialism has only created massive, totalitarian governments. This is because the system needs a concrete manifestation of "society."

A wholly ethical society is one that needs no laws or government because it's members have a functioning moral code which prevents them from acting unjustly. In asserting man's natural inferiority and ordering him to worship the god of an abstract ideal as penance, socialism can never create a wholly ethical society. Because there are no conflicts in the interests of rationally acting men, and because the the only thing that will concretize man's moral code is the effects of his work to follow it, capitalism is the only system which can create a wholly ethical society.
