The Moon Lake Romance
by Lorie Sjogren

She tonight in full bonnet blue,
Aloof to his slow advances,
But not inclined to taking chances
Takes his hand in tow.

Her high-browed gaze cast soft and true
Keeps steady through their dances;
Still eager for his glances,
She beams at her beau.

She leaves before the dance is through--
Foreseeable circumstances--
But slipping through his hands enhances
Next night's rendezvous.
